Guide

The press pack

Three content types make up the media: outlets (papers, magazines, TV, podcasts), the people who work for them, and the lines they use.

  • Outlets cover a range of tiers (tierMin/tierMax) and a list of beats (story kinds; empty means everything). An outlet with a country is a local paper: it only runs stories about its own players, and it's keen on the human player.
  • People belong to an outlet and have a role (journalist, pundit, presenter) and a style (tabloid, analyst, local, veteran, cheerleader, contrarian, establishment). likes sets how each answer tone moves their warmth towards the player; memory (0–1) is how likely they are to bring the player's old words back up.
  • Lines fill a slot (a headline, a question, a social post, a pundit's take). Lines with styles are only used by people with one of those styles. Lines with a mood of warm or cold are only used when that person likes or dislikes the player. Placeholders like {subject}, {event} and {quote} are listed on each slot in the media lines reference. A line is skipped when one of its placeholders has nothing to fill it. A line with minAge is not used while the player is younger than that. A headline with "where": "home" is only used when the story's event was played in the subject's own country (the venue's country equals the player's nationality), so put it on any line that claims a home link ("Hometown hero …").
