Guide

Season awards

At the end of each season the awards night hands out the season awards: Player of the Year, Most 180s and the rest. Awards are content: a mod can add awards, retitle or reorder the core ones, change what they're decided on, or switch them off.

Awards live in data/awards.json (or any file in data/awards/). Each file is a JSON array. The editor schema is the awards reference, and the Mod Studio edits them under Career rules → Season awards. Patches target award:<id>.

FieldMeaning
idNamespaced id, starting with your mod's id
keyOptional. The award's short name in saves and card conditions (one word, like veteranOfYear). Default: the id

criterionWhat it's decided on (see Criteria)
eligibilityOptional. Who can win it (see Eligibility)
orderWhere it's listed in the news and the season review, lowest first. Default 0
ceremonyWhen it's handed out on the awards night, lowest first, so give the biggest award the highest number. Default 0
shortlistNames on the shortlist the awards night shows, the winner included. Default 3
cardsOptional. Card designs it mints when you win it (see Cards)

The winner is the best player on the criterion among those eligible, and the next best make the shortlist. An award nobody qualifies for isn't handed out that season.

Criteria#

criterion is { "kind": … } plus the options for that kind. Every kind uses the season's numbers from every event.

kindDecided onOptionsShown as

Players with none of it (no 180s, no titles…) aren't on the list. An option for another kind is ignored, with a warning.

The card an award prints features the same number, labelled by the kind: "Prize money", "Maximums", "Season average", "Checkout", "Checkout rate", "Titles" or "Match wins".

Eligibility#

FieldMeaning

minAgeOnly players this age or older on 31 December
newcomersOnly players in their first season on the big stage: prize money on a tier 1–2 tour this season and never before
minMoneyOnly players who won at least this much prize money this season

The awards night goes from Highest Checkout up to Player of the Year. Player of the Year also counts towards the legacy score (by its key, playerOfYear).

Changing the core awards#

Patch them by id:

[
  {
    "target": "award:core.award.player-of-year",
    "patch": { "title": "Players' Player of the Year" }
  },
  { "target": "award:core.award.best-average", "patch": { "criterion": { "minDarts": 3000 } } },
  { "target": "award:core.award.best-checkout", "patch": { "disabled": true } },
  { "target": "award:core.award.young-player", "patch": { "ceremony": 65 } }
]

Keep a core award's key: saves, the legacy score and the core award cards use it.

Cards#

A card design with the award trigger mints when you win an award (see Cards). Its conditions.award names which awards, by key or id; without it, the card mints for every award. {award} in its text is the award's title.

An award can also list designs in cards. A design an award lists mints for that award (and any other that lists it) and for no other, whatever its conditions.award says, so a new award and its card need no conditions:

{
  "id": "acme.award.most-titles",
  "title": "Most Titles",
  "criterion": { "kind": "titles" },
  "cards": ["acme.card.most-titles"]
}

The loader warns about a cards entry that isn't a card or doesn't have the award trigger (it's removed), and about a card condition naming an award nobody hands out.

Checks#

  • Two awards with the same key: the later one is dropped, with a warning.
  • A prizeMoney award counting an unknown tour is dropped, with a warning.

Saves#

A career keeps the awards it was created with, and picks up the installed packs' when it's loaded. Awards already won keep their title in the career summary; a key the awards no longer have shows the core title, or the key itself.

The example-rules mod retitles Player of the Year, adds Most Titles (with its own card) and a Sharpshooter of the Year for checkout rate, and translates them into German.
